Leak: Please tell me it's just condensation from the air con
I was driving my 02 WRX and got stuck at a red light on this huge incline. I had to do a hill start and being the noob I am, accidentally held the hand-brake on for tad too long
....long story short: overreving and a bad burning smell. Got home and realised there was a heavy dripping sound and looked underneath the car and found a pretty big puddle being added to by some pretty fast dripping (which eventually slowed down and stopped). Inspected it, and it seemed like water to me, and after a while it had all evoporated. I'm about 80% sure that it's just the a/c condensation dripping off since I had it on for about the whole hr trip. However, is this the normal method for a car to be doing this? To just let it pour out like that?? And some speculation on what caused the burning smell would be much appreciated too...my poor baby (and btw, the same dripping was going on for a while but slower today after a similar but shorter trip).

I'm sure it's just condensation. There's a drip tube that hangs down right around the transmission/clutch area at the back of the engine bay.
edit: and the bunring smell was your clutch. You'll wear it out real quick if you keep that up. |

Yeah, I had a strong suspicion it was the clutch.
Thanks a lot for that. |
