Civic almost loses.... TO A VAN

So i was on my way home from work last thursday. My car is in the shop, so i was driving my mom's 1998 V-6 Chevy Astro van. Coming off of the freeway, i get stuck behind a civic and some SUV. The speed limit is 50 down this particular road, and these guys are side by side doing like 40. I, being a red blooded male, want to do 65. I am stuck behind this civic for like a minute or two, but I am by no means tailgating him... He finally gets a couple cars ahead of the SUV, so i slide between them and procede to accelerate. I get up to about 60 mph or so, and realize i havnt passed this damn civic yet, in fact he is still 2 or so cars ahead of me. I kind of get the hint that he might want to race, so i punch it and get up to about 75, and still havnt made up much ground. Now its obvious that he wants to race, and its about a half mile or so to the next stop light. Much to my suprise i was reeling this guy in. By 100 mph (and my governer) i had caught up to his rear bumper. My mom's van was nearly topped out, even without the governer, but i was very suprised to catch up like that, because my moms van is as slow as dirt.

Re: Civic almost loses.... TO A VAN

Dude that's nothing...I was in my mom's farm truck, a 1998 ford ranger, wheesy 3 liter pushrod V-6, off-road 4x4 package...and I was crusing around with my friend who was driving his 2003 civic lx automatic...we gunned it from a 20 mph roll all the way up to about 90 and he couldn't catch me...the sad part is, I roasted him through the curves...I guess the ranger's 130 inch wheelbase helps it corner through high to mid speed turns better than you think it would.

Re: Civic almost loses.... TO A VAN

Was the civic stock? Probably a base stock, automatic. Those three words would explain everything.

Re: Civic almost loses.... TO A VAN

wait... WTF is right..

If you wanna race, then why the hell would you wanna race a van?!? jesus he must be slow, and stupid... and in need of a girlfriend. You know, i have more respect for you now especially since you were racing a van and almost beat a civic going 100mph. That's just funny. ... Sad, true, but funny.
