Sun Roof Question

I just bought a 99 Grand Am Gt with the optional sunroof. When opening the sunroof, it only opens half way through its cycle.. for example, when you press the open button the first time it should pop up all the way. Mine only pops up half way. Also, when you push the button the second time, it is supposed to slide back all the way.. Mine continues to pop up the rest of the way, but only slides back half way.. Is there a relay that needs to be replaced?? Does anybody have experience with this problem and a possible solution? Maybe a wiring diagram that I could look at? Thanks!

sounds like a bad or misaligned sensor.

Well I'm pretty sure it's the same unit as mine, and mine works fine. This is how it's suppose to work:
You push and HOLD button to vent it vertically as much as you want. Example - you want the rear of the glass vented only like 1/4 inch, so you just push the button. If, however you wanted it vented vertically like a full inch, then you would hold the button for like a second probably. If you keep holding the button, the glass will start to slide back. So from what your saying your system is doing what it's suppose to be doing. If you want it to slide all the way back, you need to hold it down.

I think it depends on the car as well, mine only opens to the point that the rubber seal is above the roof but the sunroof is still not open ( on the flip up part)... but that's the way mine was designed or not put together properly take your pick. But Ridenour is correct though, it sounds pretty normal.
