Exclamation Gotta Question, someone Please answer

I've got a quite a bit of conflicting info. Is my 1987 325is a 2.5L motor, or a 2.7L motor?

Re: Gotta Question, someone Please answer

your e30 has the BMW M20B25 motor, thus you have a 2.5 liter engine.

the M20B27 motor is a 2.7 liter unit that was only used for the eta bimmers, i.e. efficiency motors. this model was presented as the 325e in the E30 lineup.

Re: Gotta Question, someone Please answer

i forgot

the 2.7 unit was also in the plain 325

these are often called super eta's and came out later in the E30 life cycle

Re: Gotta Question, someone Please answer

The answer to your second question is the exact same replacement. Use ths cyclinder head number on the side of the head. That particular head just clears the pistons when at TDC. When the head is shaved there is not much extra clearance. Strongly suggest against any mixes. When you buy a replacement USE THE SAME NUMBERS as the OEM. Thanks
