Re: 1990 bmw 325 i convertible

The first thing I did after the body work was to has have the power plant rebuilt. An excellent machine shoppe bored my block and turned the crank for about $700. I obtained new pistons and bearing for $600. Had to get a new(factory rebuilt) cyl.head for another $700. Add $500 for my time and $2500 does it upfront. I am very happy with my new performance-like new. Also took opportunity to check out everythine from firewall forward. Most all in good shape. Converts were the only models with battery under hood. Check out batt tray carefully. Can have severe damager if prev. owner ignored. Suggest a plastic marine battery box cut down to about a 2 inch height to put the batt into to catch condensing acid venting and stop further tray deterioration. Thanks
