Thumbs up ikea glass door cabinet for cheap ($59)

i think this is a slick deal some of u guys might consider for ur collection.
these cabinets are 5'3" tall and they are good for about 12 cars. the space between each glass surface is about 14". pretty good prices compared to those nasty looking acrylic diecast display cases that sell for $100-200

this one is a little fancier, but i dont like the wood frame running down the corners cuz they are view blockers. not a slick deal also

Re: ikea glass door cabinet for cheap ($59)

This is pretty cool, I own the second one and lately I have been tempted to make a thread entitled "How do you display your cars?" and I was gonna show a picture of mine. Anyways, I guess this is as good as a time as any:

I like the way it looks, and it keeps them pretty dust-free too. I only have to dust these 1/3 the amount of times that I dust my models which sit in the open.

nice cabinet tanner, except the view is limited from the sides.
well i just dragged home 2 of the cheaper cabinets and these have glass shelves with a lot of clearance between them, so adding more shelves are what im thinking to do. i like the spacing on those white cabinets (medicine cabinets from ikea) but they got discontinued.

Thank you. When I bought it I never thought of the restricted view. It was the first cabinet I ever bought for diecasts so I didn't really know what to look for. I still really like it though, the single shelves fit an average sized car perfectly.

I looked at one similair to yours, but I didn't like how much space there were between each shelf and I didn't feel like adding more shelves so I just got this one. I'm sure that one will be perfect though, once there are more shelves.

Re: ikea glass door cabinet for cheap ($59)

I just picked up the all glass one, VERY good price in my opinion. Has anyone added more shelves to the glass one? I see more shelves in the wood frame one, but I also was interested in a less restrictive view.

Thanks,
NOMADGAMER

Has anyone added more shelves to the glass one?

imma have to do it soon. running out of room here. does anyone here has a bright idea how i can add additional pc of glass to this structure ? im thinking of 4 collar rings each corner with attached hooks (if there's such things) to support the metal rod, then the glass pc over it. i really dont want to weil any metal unless there's no alternatives. let me know if u have a better ideas

Re: ikea glass door cabinet for cheap ($59)

i was thinking two drop hooks with wire from each horizontal pre welded bar, then lay another piece of glass, similar to your idea i think...

Re: ikea glass door cabinet for cheap ($59)

i dont think this is gonna be hard. right now imma think of something that i can attach to each verticle column and have extension to support the glass at each of the 4 corners. that way i dont have to mess with the xcross bar at all
