Re: diffrent distrubutor

you will want to reuse your old distributor, the vacuum advance one will not work right with your computer. you might have to change the bracket that the distributor fits into, it is held on with three bolts. usually they are the same bracket, are you sure you don't have the distributor body 180% out? try spinning it halfway around

I just did the JDM into my 91 metro about 2 months ago. You will have to use the old Dist. like the above poster said to do. Also the JDM in Japan are carbed and that old Dist. is nothing like the ones over here.

The only things that you can really use from the JDM are the head and complete block. It's also a good idea to replace ALL the gaskets (including the head gasket)!! Everything else comes from the old engine.

I even tried to use the JDM belt pullies cause they looked so good. Found out that they line up differntly.

E-mail me if you have questions.

Mine works really well

Re: diffrent distrubutor

if the new engine came with the alternator you can use the pulleys on the engine if you also use the jdm alternator. if it did not come with alternator you will have to swap the pulleys over

I changed the distributor and valve cover on my jdm swap.

The crankshaft pully works fine on my non-ac car.

That's all that was done other than new valve cover and manifold gaskets. Started right up! Gets 40+ mpg and uses absolutely no oil!
