Unidentified Hose under Hood

I was looking under my hood of my 99 Venture, and I found a hose that was unattached, and I can't identify it. The Pontiac dealer close to my home could not, either.

It's on the passenger side, on top of the fender. The way I found it was one end at the base of the windshield, near the hood hinge, and running down the top of the fender, as if it were to drain something. The end near the base of the windshield has a little attachment to it as if to catch the fluid/liquid. The hose is black and about 18" long and 3/4" in diameter.

Can someone help me put it back where it belongs?

Thanks much.

Re: Unidentified Hose under Hood

Sounds like the front windshield washer hose, which has a plastic 90 degree elbow fitting on the end and connects to the front electric windshield washer pump (there are 2 pumps-- one for the front windshield and one for the rear window) at the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir. There's a good chance that the male fitting on the pump is broken-off into the end of the hose fitting (the fitting is black and the pump male fitting is white) in which case you'll need to replace the pump and extract the broken piece from the elbow fitting at the end of your hose. In the meantime, you can attach the front hose to the rear pump if you need your front washers -- you'll just have to push the rear windshield washer button to get spray in the front. If that turns out to be your mysterious hose, you might want to consider finding a new dealer!
