Question MontanaVision Questions

I just purchased a used 2000 Pontiac Montana. It is loaded with basically every option, including the MontanaVision package. There are no manuals with it about the video system and I can't find anything on the internet. Could someone answer the below questions:

1. Did the 2000 models come with wireless headphones?

2. If so, what are the model numbers and where can you purchase them?

3. When you flip the screen down and watch the video, should the sound for the video be coming out of the rear speakers. When I flip the screen down, the rear speakers stop playing the radio and go mute, but they never play the video sound. Is there something I have to do to make it play the sound through the speakers or is that just the way its setup. Headphones work ok, but not speakers.

4. Finally, has anyone tried switching the vcr out with a DVD player? I'm curious as to how difficult of a project that would be.

Thanks,
Ryan

If you figure out how to remove the VCP, let me know. I tried.....can't seem to find the mounting screws. Seems like an easy task, but I can't seem to figure out what holds it in.

I'd like to change to a DVD unit.......

Re: MontanaVision Questions

No, I'm pretty sure that the 2000 did not have wireless capability. Basically, if you have a place to plug in headphones, you don't have wireless.

On the VCP, I've heard on another forum that it can be done since the VCP just has RCA connectors. The website is not always working correctly, but try searching at http://forums.vmag.com/mvventure1199/

On the sound, I believe the way it works is that with the radio off, insert a tape, and pull down the screen. The radio should turn on, and sound should go through all speakers. Once you hit the "rear speaker audio" button on the overhead console, the speakers shut off, and the headphones only work. With RSA off, but when you turn on the radio, the front plays the radio, and the rear plays the movie and the headphones work. Not sure if that is the case on the older system...

Hope this helps....glen

MontanaVision Questions

I'm also interested in replacing the VCP with a DVD player in my 2000 Montana Vision. The original equipment VCP is the ROSEN RVP9800 VCP.

We love the van. Just wish I had found this site before I brought the van in for service on 12/21/04.

$186 labor charges and $45 in parts for the following repairs:
Outside air temperature sensor replaced.
Flickering lights---Dealer had no fix... suggested replacing battery.
Drivers side wiper slapping past the windshield--- Dealer adjusted.
Drivers Window slow up and down--- Dealer cleaned track and lubed.
Blower fan no work on speed 1--- Dealer replaced resistor.
