Re: What Is The Best MR2???

91~92s are going ot be the cheapest and have a slightly faster suspension if you are really into driving

93s+ have better trannies, LSD was an option, better sound system. The suspension is a bit "tamer" The 93 are also heavier.

94/95s very rare, different tail lights and wing.

Re: What Is The Best MR2???

LSD was an option from 93 and on (notice the "+" sign in my last post).

The 91/92s suspension had more of a tendency to oversteer which can be faster in the hands of the right driver. It can be more likely to spin out in the hands of an inexperienced driver. That being said, Toyota "fixed" the car by taking away some of the tendecy to oversteer in 1993 ... so the 93-98s are not as likely to spin out.

Re: What Is The Best MR2???

The best mr2 is probably the 1993 turbo because of the suspension upgrades. but also the 94-95 is also good because its better looking but it is also a little bit heavier

Re: What Is The Best MR2???

As I noted above, the 93s have several upgrades/improvements; however, I would not call the suspension one of them.

The 91/92s suspension is faster in the right hands, while the 93+ suspension is safer for the average driver.

Re: What Is The Best MR2???

The newer the MR2, the nicer and nicer looking (93 lip, 15 inch wheels, better looking steering wheel, 94+ tails and wing, 98-99 wing, nicer steering wheel, TCS etc....)

But as they got older, they got heavier and slower. (in the US)

I've never driven a 91-92 but im quite happy with the feel of my 93, and the wheels+lip are a bonus.

Just get whichever you can find clean, and upgrade the asthetics if you need to...
