92` Metro,cure for high idle,poor mileage
I found that the sensor in the top of the throttle body was not getting heat, coolant was reachining it but not circulating.
I removed the throttle body and sensor, the passage that feeds the coolant had a small piece of RTV silicone lodged in it, I fished that out and discovered the passage was plugged from radiator stop leak. A small bit of stiff wire and some carb spray cleared it. I am back to my regular 48 mpg that I expect from all 1.0 5 speed models, nice idle. Try this if you are having similar problems, and stop leak, or poor cooling system condition is suspected. Best Regards, Creosote |

Re: 92` Metro,cure for high idle,poor mileage
Hey Creosote, avfan here I had a problem where the idle was just going from say,800 to about 4000, there was a black module on the right side of carb, with a plunger type mechanism that went to the throttle. The plunger would go fromall the way out to all the way in, it was electrically controlled and gave me fits, right up til I took it off. Do you know if this is connected to the sensor you fixed, as that would explain alot. Thanks for any help. By the way after I took it off the car idles a little rough and the check eng. light is on but otherwise, car runs fine 45+ mpg, Thanks
