Almost there...HELP!!!

Ok people.. I'm a little new at this. I've had this 89 Si for a while now and just swapped in a 96 d16y8... Not a big jump but the stock a6 was done with. I'm using my original tranny-its rebiult plus a new clutch kit. Now, I'm using my original ITM, injectors and distributor. I going by what someone has already done. I printed out step by step intructions on everything. The motor's in. I just have to put on the tranny, and connect all the wires. Please let me know if there's anything I should look out for. I just want my car back..... running smoothly with vtec and all. Also I have an MSD ignition switch to set up for the vtec. Again I was told about a pm3 ecu n all, but is using my stock pm6 going to be a problem? Please help me out. I'm amped about getting my whip on the road asap!!

hmm maybe you heard pr3. I dont think i have ever heard of a pm3 ecu! You can use a pm6 ecu fine. Vtec wont activate until you get a rpm activated switch. But the car will work properly until you get the switch just not much power increase from the a6

i think he ment the p28 ecu (92-95 si/ex).

correct, vtec won't activate until the rpm switch is installed. car will run fine and dandy with your stock 89 si stuff, you will simply have less power as travagliante mentioned. i have a '00 y8 in my 89 with my stock ecu, dizzy, intake mani, and injectors.

when we did my swap i was going to use the p28 + y8 parts until we discovered the y8 cap busted. so we went back to my a6 parts with the switch. something was screwy with my msd box (was possibly bad from the factory) and my block has someother issues. i have been running without the msd box for quite awhile now...maybe 2 years. yea i know, that is sucky however, i think we might have stumbled on a problem since i have been running it that way for so long. i keep getting clogged injectors & intake mani causing sputtering at low rpms. jer noticed the end of the a6 injectors differ from the y8. they could possibly not be seating right and instead of spraying gas it's leaking and gunking.

i could be horribly jinxed, i dunno. however, i figured it was worth mentioning. whenever i get my hands on a p28 ecu again i wish to yank my block apart for a rebuild and reinstalled with the p28.
