K, what we found in this case was the Trans Computer under the passenger kick panel to be the problem.

It's true the "Relay Main" plays a role and can cause the same symptoms.
It is a dual relay and controls the fuel pump, ecm, fuel injectors and the oxy sensor.

I went ahead and ordered one (part #28100-PXO-823-M1 , 3LX) since they are not very expensive but was still hopeing to hear from someone who has had an experience with this issue first hand.
Thanks for any reply

The "relay assembly" is not the computer on the passenger floor which is called "TCM", Transmission Control Module.

I replaced the TCM on my 92 Accord couple months ago. Problem: the D4 light keeps on no matter what, and no auto shift, I have to manually shift to second gear when taking off. But there is no clicking sound. Runs great at high speed. 2 resistors burnt in the TCM due to a leaking and dry capacitor. I bought one from the internet. Car runs great since.

Hey Allan C

Any chance of you faxing your repair sheet to me?

The thing is, EXACTLY the problems you had, are what happened to my car today. It started clicking in the left dash - the green "S" light came on - it won't shift, unless I do it manually - and then it feels like it's going from 2nd to 3rd only... but the clicking is the tell-tale sign that we have/had the same problem.

You can e-mail me at [email protected] if you'd like I know I'd sure appreciate it --- I hate to think what our current dealers in this area would nail me for in "diagnostic" charges when they should know IMMEDIATELY what this problem is without even checking!

Thanks man, please drop me an e-mail if you see this post. I see that you have your e-mail link turned off on this site.

Mike

I Fixed It!! :o)))

I had the same problem,,Sports mode on all the time and Transmission not changing gear,,So i took out the Automatic Transmission Control Unit(situated passengers side under the carpet,,use a 10mm deep socket the remove plate) and found that resistor 41 + 42 had blown just like this persons:

http://205.214.86.119/images/misc/Ho...lerCloseup.jpg

I have tried replacing the resistors with 500ohms but it didnt work, then i linked them out with just wire and everything came back to life.I will have to play around until i get the correct values for the resistors because i dont want to leave just wires coz it may cause other problems.

So Honda wanted £550 for a new unit and they were out of stock
The scrappy wanted £60
I fixed mine for nothing :O))))

Mike, I am REALLY sorry, but I never received notification from this forum about your posting.
I just received notification today (2004/12/18) about the last message in the thread.

Did you still want a copy of the work order?

Guys this thread is from May...please don't bring back old threads.

smythster, please look at the postdate on the left, prior to posting...and welcome to AF

Allan, I'd assume he has since fixed the problem.

Thanks

Re: Stuck in 'Sport Shift'?

That is a new fix for me. The main relay powers the ECU, fuel pump, fuel injectors and O2 sensor heater. I see no connection between it and the transmission problem. And if it were the relay, the car should not start. Anybody else have any ideas?
