SRT-4 Power

Hey!

I am from the DSM forum, but a buddy of mine is looking at buying an srt-4. In 2003 they are 215hp. I heard that this is wheel hp, is this true? as well, how have you all found the reliablity of the srt-4, and concerns or anything? please let me know what you all think.

Thanks!
Alex

Re: SRT-4 Power

nope, when dodge rated the 03's it was in a hot humid room in detroit w/ no air flow and without an intercooler. since we now have IC's the average 03 dynoed in at approximatly 230hp and 240 lb/ft or torque at the wheels. if hes going to get one, make him spend the tiny bit extra and go with the 04's - no power difference (even though dodge said there was, there really wasnt. the 04s are just more acurate measurement then the 03s) but you get a Quaife limited slip, which will run you $2,000+install if you want to add it to your 03. take it from an SRT guy, he wants the LSD!!!

if he has anymore questions have him check out www.srtforums.com or www.performancsport.net good info and lots of knowlegeable guys. or have him pm me (tex on the srt forums, texsrt4 on preformancsport) i will either answer them, or direct him to the right answer if i cant!

I dynoed my 04 stock with 233whp and 250.6 lb torque at the wheels so thats pretty accurate to what the 04 are rated.

Re: SRT-4 Power

Cool, thats good to know. As well, do you have any other tips on things that "must be done" before anything else when dumping cash into it? He has like 8 thousand to put into it...

let me know please.

Re: SRT-4 Power

buy an 04, and replace the stock suspension - its dangerous!!! if he wants the best go with the mopar coilovers, if he wants to go cheaper go with the hotchkis springs and tokiko adjustable struts! then throw on the hotckis swaybar set, and he will be blown away at how well the car drives both on the street and the track.

have him check out www.srtforums.com to see what he can do for his money
