Battery Problem

God damnit i cant get my friggin negative connection off my battery, the positive is off but the negative wont come off, i tried a 3/8 wrench, a adjustable wrench, how the fuck do i get it off! I tried WD40 and its not budging. any help would be appreciated,

Also whats a good battery to buy for a Z32?

Yellow/red top batteries are good. Do you mean the screw just won't come loose? I got mine to come off, not sure what size wrench though, but I got it. It was harder for me to take the positive side off actually. Have you tried using a flathead and prying it off?

Yeah the positive is harder because of corroded shit but my posi came off easy, its the fuckin nut that wont untighten so that i can pull off the connector, i havent tried a flat head to pry it off shit wont budge

Pour some coke on it.....The kind you drink.....Or better yet some baking soda and water mixed. Be careful if you pry it up I have pryed the whole terminal out of the battery before doing that....There is a tool for removing such things. If you choose to pry....better to apply even pressure.

They have a battery terminal puller, but you could take a hacksaw and saw the bolt off. Cut the bolt between the two ears on the terminal and it well come off easy, but you'll have to install a new bolt.

i have never heard of this. i would try zgringo's idea before i try prying, stuff that you don't want to break could break by prying, at least when you are cutting it off, you are breaking only want you want to break. and the optima battery is the best battery you can get (red or yellow top).

Optima Yellow/Red Top 6pack batteries are the best from what I've heard... A bit up there in price, but they're the most efficient.

Due to the internals are gel, as opposed to liquid. Better charge I guess.

I have the Optima yellow top in my Honda.....Great battery.....Bout a 125.00 to 150.00.......Be careful not to break the cowl panel when swapping batteries.....Huffy has no battery.......And faster...

yeah i have a optima yellow top in my Z. everything smoothed out once i put that in there. idle and acceleration was much smoother. also, you said you tried a 3/8" wrench, your battery termnial should have a 10mm bolt holding it in, if its been changed it should be a 1/2" standard. but anyways, i would try zgringo's idea or ehonda's but when using ehonda's idea, do what he said and pry from the bottom and push on the terminal from the top, to keep it from breaking off.

One more thing........If you decide to cut the bolt....Don't use a grinder, cutting wheel or anything that creates sparks......Car batteries can explode and blow ya head off.....This public service safety announcement has been brought to by....E Honda.
p.s.......If you replace the battery with something other than a gel type battery......Put a little bit of grease on the terminals and clamps to keep them from getting covered in acid again.....

Lol, I don't think it's nessessary to cut it off yet. Just keep usings other wrenches and try to untighten it.

Thanks for the advice guys, it came down to the hacksaw. Didnt get a Optima battery too much $$$ that i dont have, got a generic battery. Car starts fine, the amps are at the right level. Thank god it wasnt the altenator.

Coat the terminals with some grease...don't take much...just a thin coat. Will keep from corroding again.

yeah, thank god you didn't have to do the altenator. that thing was hard to replace. glad to hear she is running good again.

I used some lube on the huffy easy sliding but its a tight fit NO HOMO lol
