92 Lumina turn signal flasher/relay quit

Over the past months the turn signals started flashing intermittantly on my 92 Lumina when direction lever used. Both right and left had odd blinking rate and finially stopped completely. (The four-way flasher control does flash all four corner lights as it should and its flasher "clicks" in the normal manner.) I have attempted to find and read any info on this forum related to same problem with little luck. I need to know: (1) Is the hazard/four-way flasher relay also used for the turn signals ? Apparently it is not. (2) If not, where is the actual turn signal relay located ?? (3) Any other ideas which would allow me to trace or locate any other relays or controls which would effect the function of the turn signals,etc..
As stated, the problem started with underdash flasher/relay (where ever it is...) and indicator lights on panel (and of course the actual corner lights) "clicking" at an odd intermittant rhythm.. then after several months...total stopping. (Living in Iowa I suspect colder having something to do with the problem.. but even when car is warm, problem continues)

Thanks for any assistance.

It's probably the relay. I don't remember where it is on yours, but just turn on the hazards and follow the sound. The T/S relay will be near the one for the hazards. You can swap them and see if that's the problem.

Re: 92 Lumina turn signal flasher/relay quit

Had found the hazard flasher-relay (under dash, passanger side-round aluminum plug in with two contacts ) but dont see TS flasher-relay. Atleast not that I recognize as such, so cant switch then, etc. The panel the hazard flasher-relay is on also has several circuit breakers, a chime or some kind and two black relays.. neither of which seem to be the turnsignal relay.. atleast from what I can tell ???
Thanks for suggestions... well keep looking. If you recall anything more... let me know.
Thanks again !!

your turn signal flasher is to the right side of your steering column. Remove your lower cover from your dashboard, follow the right side of your steering column to the firewall, and look up. It should be in a round clip.

Re: 92 Lumina turn signal flasher/relay quit

Great !!! Manny boy... you were right on the money !! Using Jeffcoslacker's post info.. I swapped the 4-way hazard flasher unit to test the TS flasher located just where you said it would be... and it was DOA. At least I can now drive to the auto parts store to get the replacement flasher without getting a equipment ticket from the locals.
{I knew for weeks that the flasher/relay was going out but figured I had plenty of time to find it.. by following the odd "clicking." But it went completely dead... and I had no idea where it was located.

Thanks.. Manny boy and Jeffcoslacker !!!

Thanks again gang !!!

Is this different for the '91?

I followed your instructions, but still cannot find the relay on my 1991. If it makes a difference, mine is a 3.1L 4-door Euro.
