will 95+ sohc motor and trannie fit in 89?

im thinking of changing my auto to a 5 speed and was looking around and realized it will be just as much to get a dohc motor with it and from what i hear its alot easier to install that way, what i want to know is, is their any differance between a 91-94 motor/trans and a 95-97? i have found a 97 with 34k on both and its only $550, i just need to know if it will fit into a 89' now.

i think the cams were different in s-13 to s-14 ,and i heard somewhere that the blocks were slightly different, but not from a credible source. the s-14 (95+) had cams made for low end torque, and the s-13 had more tuned cams for high end, other than that, their bout the same.

Since the S13 SR bolts into both chassis, I'm guessing the mounting points on both chassis and both KAs are the same.

ok dude look.... first of all they dont have 95 SOHC they have Dual cams... second the S13 91+ have best cams in 240s.... so even if you do get a 95 KA you would still want to put the 91+ cams in there... also, the Valve cover will not bolt on from a S13 to an S14 so thats the only difference in bolt ons that i know, and i would guess the engine mounts and tranny mounts would be ideantical... why would they change that in the first place?! it would cost to much ... so they just did some engine changes and suspension, thats about it ...

GT500, he put DOHC in his post, it was a typo in the thread name. And who said anything about swapping valve covers?

i guess I will be the only one to add some smarts here

you are getting yourself into a BIG HEADACHE

if you have a pre 96 car get a pre 96 engine.. if you have a 96 or newer car get likewise engine

OBD-II is a completely different computer, wiring harness, added sensors, controls, its a PITA and I hate OBD-II

plus a SR is not a direct bolt in, there are quite a few things you have to change, also putting a DOHC motor into a SOHC chassis you will also have to make changes in the power steering lines the same way if you were going to put a sr20 into a sohc 240sx. and thats just what I know of.

really putting a DOHC ka into a SOHC is the easiest swap with a different engine but its almost as much work as swapping in a JDM engine, and really a SR, CA, or RB require about the same amount of customization and work to be succesfully swapped.
