"98 Park Avenue Front Mount
Folks I need some help. My wife and I have a "98 Buick Park Avenue with the 3800 Series II engine. I am trying to find the front left engine/transmission mount for it. This mount sits between the engine and transaxle, in the front close to radiator. If you lean over the front grille, then it is where the engine ends and transaxle begins.
The reason I am taking the time to fully describe its location is because my local GM dealer wants to sell me this totally different looking mount with a hydraulice cylinder on it. This is wrong because it is just a plain square typical mount with actually two bolts that go through it. It is about 3 to 4 inches square, top to bottom and side to side. I have also been to NAPA, Auto Zone, Discount Auto, Car Quest just to name a few, and all of them swear I have this over a hundred dollars mount. This mount should cost no more than the 30 to 50 dollar range. It is a plain Jane mount. This is a 3800 Series II with NO super charger, and the 4 speed O/D transmission. My question is does anyone out there know where I can get this mount for my car? I need it as the old one is giving out. Thanks Joe |

Re: "98 Park Avenue Front Mount
the 98 and newer PA's have had notorious motor mount problems. You are 'stuck' with the newer updated, more expensive mount.

Hi Chris, thank you for replying, did not think anybody would after this long. But let me see if I understand you correctly. Are you saying that they do not make my basic looking plain jane motor mount anymore, and that possible there is a design change that is forcing me to buy the much more expensive mount that has a hydraluic cylinder on it?
You see the mount that is on my car right now, is just a maybe 3 to 4 inch square type typical mount, held by 2 bolts. It is nothing fancy about it, looks totally easy to change but nobody carries it. So is it possible they had a design change, and that is why I can find my plain regular mount anymore? I wish I could post a picture of it but I dont know how. Joe |

Re: "98 Park Avenue Front Mount
Joe, the engine mounts are not available at aftermarket stores and so they are not able to sell you the correct part. The 97, 98 & 99 engine mounts differ greatly from the '00 and newer. Also there are two types for the '98s, one with a mounting stud and one without a mounting stud. You need to get the correct part from the dealer. The two part numbers are: w/stud - 25671191 and w/o stud - 22146252. And it will cost up to $150.00. Kregg
