You obviously don't know how advanced driving schools work......let me explain in a nice, point-form manner for you.

Go to class and get theoretical instruction on potential driving scenarios and how to handle them
  • Go to test area/skid pan/track and have similated situations(including ice conditions, extreme rain, low visibility) demonstrated
  • Drive car yourself in simulated situation with instructor in passenger seat coaching you on things to do and how to react as events take place
  • Go car solo into test area with similated situation

I've been through an advanced drivers class, you do the driving after they've told you how you should handle the situation, it's a lot better way to learn, and FYI, even Igor has gone through some classes in advanced driving.
