there are many chips on ebay for the p13 ecu (from the 4th gen) spoon/mugen/Jun/Jet etc. - most of the cheap ones raise your redline, remove a speed governor (if applicable like on the jdm p13 ecu's), and basically dump more fuel in your engine, i assume by increasing the pulse the injectors get - basically making you run richer. I do not think they are a good buy. The best way to chip/alter your ecu will be with a tuner/dyno setup where your fuel maps can be customized to your cars "exact" configuration - you see - that's the main problem with these one off solution chips - everyone's car is setup differently whether it be a CAI, or headers/exhaust or cams, or all of the above - or turbo etc - so how can someone make a "blanket" chip for everyone? - exactly - they can't. so the only way to harness true performance is to have your car's needs tuned accordingly - you'll find people on the internet who have the ability to write to the chips - and i've heard if you tell them the exact mods you have on your car - they will make you a custom chip. I still don't really buy that (i imagine lots just pawn of the typical spoon chip or something), and unless the person has my car on a dyno and we're tuning it together before my very eyes and I can see the advantage of having it i wouldn't pay squat. If you really want to go that route consider the hondata s200 route with a p72 (yes a whole new ecu) or something with datalogging.

Finally be very cautious of any chip that claims to raise your redline, if your engine isn't BUILT to take it, one hesitation in shifting and you might be buying yourself a new engine. Just because the chips says "10 000 rpm redline! - doesn't mean your engine was built to take that abuse - but the ecu will let it alright - right up till when it breaks. and that's never fun.

I don't believe they ever made a chip for the p14, but i'm often proven wrong (:

ask aceshigh what he thinks of chips - i believe he has/had a socketed p13 ecu that he doesn't even run in his car - i think that speaks for itself.
