Cadence linkable amps...

I was wanting to know if anyone has used any of Cadence's linkable amps like these? I'v had a few Cadence amps in the past and liked them alot and I was wanting to know how those linkable setups work and how good they perform and such.

Re: Cadence linkable amps...

never used them, and I have no idea why anyone would ever need to unless they were doing some serious SPL competition

but my amp can be linked like that, it has a plug that looks like a phone cord on the front of it that you run to the 2nd amp. My guess is you run a wire from one amp's + to the other amp's -, and the remaining + and - go to the sub (just like you were bridging a 2 channel). And then you run the phone cord between the amps to control the gain and boost on the slave amp (you can set one to master and the other to slave). But I'm not sure on any of this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Re: Cadence linkable amps...

yeah you would have to be pushing something pretty serious to need to, but I was wandering how it worked. It doesnt really go into detail on there site or in there catalog.

Re: Cadence linkable amps...

I think it might go in detail in the instruction manual....I'll see if I still have mine

Re: Cadence linkable amps...

alright reading my manual....let's see here

when you strap 2 together, you set one as master and one as slave, and you run the phone cord looking cable between the master output on the master and the slave input on the slave. When you have it set like this, the slave's level control, phase shift, ssf, bass boost, and low pass filter are all overridden, the settings on the master amp are applied to the slave amp. Also, the input signal that's running to the master's rca inputs is carried through that phone cord thing too, so you don't have to worry about splitting the rca to the slave amp.

As for wiring, you connect a wire between the negative speaker outputs on each amp, and then you run the sub between the + speaker outputs. So the - on the master amp is connected to the - on the slave amp, the + on the master amp is connected to the + on the sub, and the - on the sub is connected to the + on the slave amp. If you want a picture of the wiring I can take a pic of this page in the manual if you want. It's pretty simple though, just what I described above.

the ZRS amps also have some ARVA circuitry that raises the rail voltage and damping factor when you run a low load to keep the power and df up at low impedances. I didn't know that, but thought it was interesting and it doesn't talk about it on the website.
