Erratic wipers

Since buying my used 99 sable LS in 2001, the wipers sometimes go on spontaneously for several secunds up to severla minutes, running intermittently. The switch is not on and it is completely unpredictable as to when it will happen. Any thoughts? Electrical or fuse problem?

Re: Erratic wipers

All of thos functions are controlled by a module in the steerling column shroud and is attached to that lever. This would be your most likely culprit i would suspect.

My 99 Sable has this same problem. Sometimes if I cycle the switch it stops.

I have a 99 Sable LS with the exact same problem. Quite annoying. But the quick fix, as said earlier, was to just turn on the wipers and turn them back off... seems to "fix" the issue when it occurs. Anyone ever figure out exactly what's wrong? I always thought it to be a short unique to the car. Odd that others with the same model experience the problem.
