Question Rear hatch Lock

The silver push button hatch relase lock on my 94' rodeo no longer locks. It still pops the glass up but i cannot get it to lock. I tried graphite and everythign but it seems to be clogged. I wasnt to replace it but i cant seem to find any place that sells the lock cylinder. Where can i find it?

Re: Rear hatch Lock

My daughter just informed me that hers didn't lock either...I got my trusty Mobile 1 oil spray can out and sprayed the c**p out of it and lo and behold it locks...yippee!

I sprayed mine real good with WD40 as well, alot of gunk came out which lead me to belive that someone tried to lube it before and the lube has broken down now and doesnt work.

Re: Rear hatch Lock

try the WD40, but work the key in and out to "excersize" the pins in the lock cylinder. You may have a pin stuck that won't allow the cylinder to turn.

Does it turn on direction and not the other, or not at all?

Sounds like its just gunked up really bad. You might want to consider removing it so you can let it soak in some carb cleaner or something. Don't forget to re-lube it after cleaning.

Re: Rear hatch Lock

you could also try some graphite lock spray, it has cleaner and lube in it, available at just about any auto parts store. If that doesn't work then your going to need some professional help. Unless you feel comfortable taking it apart yourself.

Re: Rear hatch Lock

the carb cleaner has alot better chance of working than the graphite, I have put graphite in before, i need to remove more stuff from the cylinder, not add more gunk
