Question 97 305ci, fuel overload??

had a issue happen as i drove the truck home Sunday from my pops house , it ran fine, got home, all OK. Tuesday afternoon when my wife goes to start the truck it just turns over so I get a call , and then memories of 6 monthes earlier when the fuel pump and sending unit had to be replaced which cost me some bucks, so I take the day off (WED) to try to figure it out. well there are no codes checked fuel pressure all above 60 PSI for 2-3 seconds but drops down to 43 within 5 min.Leaky fuel injector??
pulled 2 plugs and they were very wet, and speaking with my pops, he said go and get and install new plugs and i did, The engine turned over, and over and over, until it was spitting and sputtering I pressed the gas pedal down and a bunch of whittish gray smoke blew out of the tail pipe, like it was flooded. It has started fine and is running good .I guess my ? is how could have the cyl. get so loaded with fuel, i guess im trying to snip a could be major prob. in the but. Any help would be a GOD send,Thanks, Ron

I'd say you need to remove th upper intake manifold to get a better idea of what you're dealing with, I'd almost bet on a bad regulator leaking into the upper intake. You'll know when you get it apart if its the regulator from the "washed" spot under it
