Car wont start

I was installing a BOA DIY remote start and unlock and I got about half way done and needed a relay so I stopped and packed up the wires that were left hanging and pushed them under the dash. The next day the check engine light came on and I didn't really think anything of it. My girlfriend was out in the car and the wires had fall down from behind the dash. She had the car started and attempted to push the wires back under the dash and the car quit and won't start. Do you think maybe the starter fuse shorted and if it did were is it? Don't have a manual.
