hesitation on acceleration hard

hi,

i got a Pa 92 SC... if i drive it smooth, no problem... but when i floor it it hesitates alot.. like misfiring although its not making any back fires...i got a pod filter on and i can hear the supercharger whining but its not the normal sound.. like it follows the negine speed so if the neing is hesitating, then its must be too ..

i got no check engine light on nor anything else... it idles very smoothly when i drive normally, i wouldn't even noticed this problem.

oh and it SEEMS.. not sur yet.. but it seems to be doing more when the car is warmed up.


since its caused by either fuel or spark, when do i begin?..

i got the ECM codes out.. and its a code 12.. as in CODE 12 - ECM functionally properly.. i got no other codes than this..

but i though of something... could it be the cone filter and the -20 degrees temperature?.. could it be too cold for a pod ?

well i just went to try it out cold and it seemed to be not as bad... but its hard in a residential area to test a car at wide open throttle right

i go it on the freeway and gave it the beating of his life...all the way to 90 MPH a few times and it was hesitating alot and it lacked power.. the second i i floored it it bogged down and started to make backfires no SES light came on.. and then it stalled.... crank it up a few times while still rolling down the free way and it started up again... and continued with the same hesitation.. although i was not able to make it stall again..

i dont think that the fuel filter has been changed on this car.. it has 85000 miles on it....

anyone got a suggestion?

check your plug wires, aftermarket wires are know yo misfire. use gm plug wires

def check ur ignition wires, and the coil pack...happened to me and once i got that fixed, there was no other problem...

wouldn't a spark plug wire be doing it all the time?? mine is doing it ONLY on HARD acceleration.. at idle and normal driving you can't even SEE there is a problem...i might go for lack of fuel maybe? coze it works on all 6 cylinders and when i floor it it doesnt drop on 4 or 5 .. it hesitates.. and i got no ECM codes what so ever... i get a 12.. which is normal operation..

OK, I would start off by changing the fuel filter first. secondly, seeing as how its cold there, I would think about possible moisture in the gas tank, ( water ) from a gas station or poor fuel. If Its freezing, that will do it. I would run a few bottles at once of Water Remover or That dry gas in the car for a day or 2 and see where its goes from there. I would suspect this stuff first.. also wires and tuneup would be in order if needed.. let me know how you make out...

ok,

let's start off by fuel filter.. is it easy to change? where is it located? the wires seem to be OEM.. and look not so old to me... but even there... if i would lose spark i would lose it everywhere in the rpm range right? as i lose it from 2000 rpm and up if i step on more than half the pedal.. and the more i floor it, the more hesitation i get...like when i got it to stall, i was holding the gas and it was backfiring like hell..

it made like it was out of gas...but the tank if half full..


so if anyone can tell me where is the fuel filter i 'll get one this afternoon and do it tonight ..If its easily accessible...

Fuel Filter - It's on the right side of the car, under the front passenger's door. It's not immediately under the door, it's a little bit back but very easy to spot.

The filter is less than $10, so that is an easy fix, and the car's probably due for one anyway :-D

As far as the wires, it's possible. I had a Ford Crown Victoria that did something similar; it was the cheap wires I had put on there. I swapped them back to OEM ones and it ran perfectly until I bought the Buick.

Fuel Filter is easy, rightside passanger, As far as the wires, It can be the wires for sure.. The Higher the RPM the more current they hold, and the more leakage occures. The Spark is more Violent in upper RPM's then lower. If there OEM's change them. There time is up. It only takes slight resistance to knock the hole system out of wack.

what wires should i put on? original GM ? how much are we talking about here fopr good wires and what/where should i buy?

The Dealer wires are nice, Advanced Auto carries AC delco Wires.. Change the plugs in the process and if you want good performance use the AC DELCO RAPID FIRES. They are great for performance. If Not Delco wires BOSCH wires are good too..l

ok,

well for starters i got the fuel filter changed.. although it must have been the original, im pretty sur it won't hurt the MPG.. it should in fact help.

but it hasn't solved the problem.. then i got mad and took a chance on new plugs ( AC Delco) and new wires ( BOSCH) .. and that was it

the car, idles better, has ALOT more pick and is sooooo smooth... wow. who would have tought that would be the problem? well alot of poeple here actually but not me... heheh i was sceptical about it..

oh and btw, the wires were original!! 12 years old ! they had that little plastic thingy wrap around the wire to protect it fromt he heat / friction of the engine.. when i try to take em out and put them on the new wires, they broke so easily! just like potato chips

that's great to hear usually it's good to eliminate the smaller things and inexpensive first...they need changing anywayz so might as well do that before u spend big cash

Glad its all set... Plugs and wires are the first thing that cause issues with missfires and hesitation. Usually always ignition.. Good Job!
