94 galant transmission

i have a 94 galant that i am having transmission problems with. The other day while driving, the car was knocked out of gear. Before my wife left of the gas, she put it back into drive. Once back in gear, the car acted as if it was in neutral. The car does not respond to any of the gears. When in park, the axel does lock but all the other gears act like neutral. When the key is in the acc position and i move through the gears, there is an electrical type noise coming from behind the pan. The noise is temporary in all gears except "L" where the noise continues as long as you leave it in gear. I read about testing the solenoids that are attatched to the valve body. I did this and got normal readings. Does anyone else have any ideas?
