Remote Control
Just got a Clarion mp3/cd head unit in Dad's car, and it came with a remote control.
WTF is the point of the remote control? The head unit is easily within reach, has a nice, easy to use rotary knob, and fair sized, lighted buttons, while the remote has a cluster of useless, tiny, black buttons. I'm tempted to throw it in the garbage...

You could be in the back seat a little busy....

Re: Remote Control
well if you use the remote you wont wear out the buttons on the cd player and you dont have to lean forward to change the radio and you dont realy have to take your eyes off the road

Re: Remote Control
You don't have to take your eyes off the road
You don't have to worry about a bump screwing up what button you were trying to push Depending on your car and your driving habits you might not even need to move your hand

Re: Remote Control
Well, the only place I can really put the remote is further away than the head unit, which is easily within arms reach without stretching. Also, the buttons on the head unit are much more distinctive than the non-descript, all-alike buttons on the remote, so the head unit I can sucessfully use without taking my eyes off the road, but the remote would have me searching for several seconds.
If they were distinctly shaped steering wheel controls, I would surely use them, but as a remote control more suited to my home television, I think I'll keep it safely tucked away
