93 wagon transmission
I have a 93 Taurus wagon with a 3.8l engine. Recently the transmission has been acting funny, but only at times. It usually runs and shifts fine but there are times when it feels like it is bouncing back and forth between gears - jerking for a few seconds and then goes fine. Any suggestions would be welcom. I am not sure if you need any further information but I will add what I can. Thanks!

First off, in which gear? It sorta ssounds as if it shifting back and forth from a higher gear to a lower one. When it does it try shifting down a gear, if it goes away, it's probably that specific gear area that has the problem. It could also be something in your shift linkage (not adjusted properly, worn, bent, sticking). You can also try moving your shift leaver in half way between gears and see if it goes away, this would eliminate your possible linkage problem.

Re: 93 wagon transmission
I have only had it happen at low speeds - 10 to 20 MPH. A friend says it has happene to her when on the on ramp to the highway so between roughly 40 - 50 MPH. I'll try your suggestions as well. Thanks!

Re: Re: 93 wagon transmission
I also have that same problem on my 93 Ford Taurus 3.8L(not wagon). It does it in over drive and the driving gear. It happens going on a slight incline on the freeway at all times when I decide to give the car more gas, and at stops in the city. I will try the between gear idea and get back to this post with my results.
