Really crappy fuel milage
Ok ive been looking for someone that can give me some kind of advise on this. I have an 85 turbo Z that my gas mileage just dropped off in the last few weeks. When the problem started i did plugs wires the whole deal. It has a new converter on it. It doesnt idle poor or anything..i have some sluggishness on acceleration but im pretty sure thats the turbo going. Been like that alot longer than the fuel trouble. Any advise or help would be much appreciated.

Your turbo is about to go south for the winter, and for the rest of eternity.
Aside from that, if you set the timing wrong your gas mileage will suck and your tailpipe will smell like unburnt fuel. Check the shop manual for the proper timing for your motor, change the PCV valve and pray the turbo hangs on until spring. Slantsixness

Yeah, a dying turbo can cause poor mileage. it quits adding more power than it consumes turning itself...

hay if they say your turbo is going out then i have a 86 turbo for sale for 60 bucks. i would check your injecters, oh yeah i forgot about this my car did that and i blow my head gasket out, but i think it was because i had a cracked valve cover so you mit want to check it. well so i have a turbo for sale if you want it then you can email me at [email protected]
