RE: Snow Tires...
I live in upstate NY, could anyone offer their opinions on studded tires. I have a '95 Caprice w/ the 4.3 engine. I have 4 winterforce snow tires and I'm not sure if I should get Two of them studded. If studded how will they perform in rain & dry conditions?
Thanx |

Re: RE: Snow Tires...
It would be the same as driving on all season tires, except there will be a signifigant noise difference, and you'll wear down the studs faster. You might also notice the ride will be a little less smooth. The traction in the snow however is much better than normal all seasons.

So w/ an hour commute to work each day, I should't stud the rears.

Nah, I wouldnt stud em, but non-studded snow tires are a good idea.

Yeah, I sort of figured that. I guess studs would be good if I wasn't commuting. I think I'll just put two large bins in the trunk filled w/ sand, & if needed I'll use some of the sand for traction, the rest will double as extra weight.
