Crank But No Start!!!!! Help

1997 gmc jimmy 4.3L 4X4




when the key is in the on position i get no lights or guages on the dash, but other power acc. work( i.e power windows , radio). the engine will crank all the time but will not start

Check IGN fuses, might be under the hood, there are two A and B or something like that. Do you hear the fuel pump turn on when to turn the key to the on position, it should run for two seconds or so. It really sounds like it could be the ignition switch if there is not a blown fuse somewhere- check ECM and ENG fuses too. A search for ignition switch in this forum or on the Chevrolet Blazer forum should get you some good details

i had tried ecm and eng fuses, they were both good, i will search for the others that may be under the hood, i didn't here the fuel pump, but then again i wasn't listening for it.

Ignition switch.

Common failure on the 1997s.

Black box in the steering column, replace and you will be set.
