2001 Impala trouble..

2001 Impala 3.4 is running fine and then it still runs fine but the check engine light comes on, the engine fans all run..even after the engine is shut down, for a time and the temp gauge stops working. All this at once....then its fine. Any ideas?

last night my wife called and told me that the impala was possessed because the blower motor was running on high with no key in the ignition. we have never had any problems with the car previously. as we speak i was looking for an answer on this forum. I am baffled since i cant find the problem or the breaker that controls the blower motor. my battery is dead. when i hook the battery charger up the blower kicks on and wont stop...................................any help????????????????????

Re: 2001 Impala trouble..

i would take it in and have the blower resistor checked, althought mine went bad and didn't work, maybe it's in there somewhere, i would look in one of the many fuse locations and pull it, but make sure it doesn't also run something vital for the car. Take it in, tell them what it's doing and see if they have an answer before you pay them anything.

answer

mine did the same thing. you need to replace your thermostat and the switch for the temp. your thermostat is under your throttle body. the switch screws into the thermostat housing. take your airbox out, then take your throttle body off. then undo the 2 small water hoses leading to the long black metal water line. then undo the bigger hose at the end of the metal water line. (by the fire wall) and there you go the housing willbe right there altogether. make sure you bleed both bleeder valves at each side of engine when your done

Temp Gage / Low coolant warning

My 2001 was having problems with Low Coolant indicator (no real loss of coolant) then temp gage started working intermittantly then finally went south. (Car was still running great) Dealer checked out and said intake manifold had leak. Looks like something going on, ended up dealer replaced sensors, thermostat and intake manifold gaskets (at least $600.00+ bucks) and did not charge me!!! I still have my mouth open.... car has 67000 mi said something about customer relations.... Not looking gift horse in mouth, but this was a first.... Check with your dealer may be a known problem they are trying to take care of.... Never hurts to ask....
