Transmission Failure Need Help ASAP

My 1991 tercel's transmission went out today. It an automatic. I need advice on what I should do, just replace the transmission or do a starlet 4EFTE/manual conversion. I have $2000 to spend. I will be doing all of the labor myself. I figured since both will be labor intensive would it be worth it to go all out for the starlet swap? I HATE AUTOMATICS!!!!!!! PLease help, this is my only car and it needs to get back on the road please post feedback ASAP.

well, first off be a lil nicer to your car... your tercel is not a racecar... lol. i would advise against that engine /transmission swap. too costly and labor intensive. i have a 1990 tercel, i blew up the motor (threw a rod) and just bought another motor for $200. since your car is an automatic, i suggest your scrounge around your local junkyards for another automatic with low mileage and good appearance (no oil stains, grease, etc.) you'll be better off in the long run... for your money. just my two cents...
