99 Ranger Fuel Filter

Hey, I cant get my fuel filter off and it is killing my gas mileage. I bought just about every kind of tool to try and get it off (plastic circles, metal wrench type) but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? I really dont want to pay someone for such a simple job. Thanks!

my '97 had to have the plastic circles. it snapped on the end of the filter, and slid up into the hose, which un-snapped the hose off of the filter. I'm sure that it's the same. be carefull with the hose. I put a hole in mine trying.

Jay I'm having the same problem, How did you get the filter off? I got the front part off, but the rear part wont come off?
