Lightbulb $70.00 Turbonator/ YES or NO?

I was checking out www.turbonator.com and considering sticking one of those in my 95 3 cyl. Metro. I'm not sure. The site sure points to hoax and/or rip-off. Anybody have an opinion or expierence with one of those turbonators? I would love some more HP without losing MPG. Maybe you can point me to another cheap mod that would REALLY help performance. TY.

Re: $70.00 Turbonator/ YES or NO?

seems it is all a waste of money.
Geos were built for economy not to be fast.
the more power you get the more your economy suffers.
I believe if you want performance then consider a tubo car or a v8
I am not trying to burst anyones bubble or even telling anyone to stop trying to improvr the geo but economy will suffer from preformance.

A turbonator will improve economy by adding to a more efficient running engine. Less vacuum=less stress on the cylinders to draw more air in. BUT, it comes at a cost. Power. It uses a lot of electrical power, putting additional strain on the alternator. In my honest opinion, it's not worth it for an engine as small as a Geo's. You won't notice a thing.

Re: $70.00 Turbonator/ YES or NO?

As I posted a few weeks ago:

I can't see how this device would work on ANY engine. You can't get free power, you can only harness power being wasted, as is the case of a supercharger or turbo system. Anything that takes power from one system to put it to another is going to give you a net loss due to simple physics.

This being said, power can be obtained in small amounts by making the engine more efficient, such as by increasing the amount of air that is able to enter and exit the engine (intake / exhaust) as well as by increasing the density of oxygen in the combustion air (colder air, ram air effect or nitrous oxide).

All this being said, there's only so much an engine can take without careful engineering and consideration. Geozuki has managed to get a lot of power out of stock internals from what i've seen, but I'd guess he's given careful consideration to what he's doing and has lots of mechanical expertise. If you're trying to make a vtec killer, expect that you're going to see some monetary setbacks that you might not otherwise have been expecting

Thumbs up Re: $70.00 Turbonator/ YES or NO?

MetroNoob:
I was considering into buy one of those a couple months ago. Then I realized, that maybe, as everyone said in here, is not very reliable for 1.3 4 cyl engine (or lower)

After that, I decided to got with new platinum sparkplugs, spark wires, rotor and its cap, +4 degree distributor timming.

So far, I can beat almost any 1.6 stock engine powered beauty. It is delivering 34 mpg on street.

Now I am thinking in next step: air filter conversion, stronger clutch kit, wider exhaust/muffler system and rear disc brakes.

My opinion is that, suzuki engine is so economical (regarding mpg) that no matter what you change/mod on it, it will still economical in comparison with same mods on any other engine.

Hope this helps,

MC.

Economical as it is, you can still make em suck fuel, lol. My swift GT swap get about 30mpg when I drive like a nice guy . BUT, When I opened her up on the freeway(won't say how fast I was goin) 7900RPM's in 4th gear, for about 3 miles, I burnt almost a 1/4 tank. But moderate driving, they do well, no matter what. Turbos make the MPG's even better at gentile driving.

Electric turbos are a joke! There is no way they can help you get more power, NO WAY!

They are a ripoff of the worst kind.
