left rear quarter panel
I'm not have very good luck with my 240. First my timeing chain broke and ruined my engine and now this. My girlfreind decided to take my truck to work and "forgot" that the 240 was parked next to her and she smashed my left rear quarter panel beyond repair. (and the door but not to bad) So heres my question
how is the panel replaced? Its conected to the roof of the car and I cant see any seem. Is there one there? I think there would have to be. and if it is there how do you remove it and replace it? cutting wheel, weld or tig, and a grinder? I'm just wandering, I'm probable going to take it to a shop to have it done (after my engines done) just wanted to know how it works I couln't find much on the net about it thanks guys |

Bad news for you. It doesnt come off. Bad thing about newer cars is that they are something called Uni-body. The rear fenders are part of the frame. Take this opertunity to invest in widebody or somethig. Also a bodyshop will be able to help you out for a PRICE.

Re: left rear quarter panel
So how does the body shop do it? Even if its a unibody there has to be a way to cut a section out and replace it. And what do you mean by a wide body?

Over fenders that cover the fenders, make the body wider, hence the term, wide-body.

Re: left rear quarter panel
is so bad there is no way you could spend hours of endless hammering on the inside of the body to get it back to some form of shape, then have that bondo'ed (sp?) and re-paint that spot...
My dads truck had about a 4 or 5 inch deep, probably like 3 feet long dent in the left side of the bed of his truck. We did what i said with the bondo and stuff and you cannot even tell anything ever happened. But my dad is specialized in doing this and knows how to do it so if you havent done it or anything, then maybe i would suggest a different route...
