83 cadillac fleetwood brougham

i have an 83 cadillac fleetwood brougham, i bought the car for 50 bucks, the only problem i have with it is that the headlights dont work, i was wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem and knows how to fix it or if anyone has a wiring diagram, any input would be appreciated.

Re: 83 cadillac fleetwood brougham

Oh man.......a $50 caddy. Where did you find it? I would love to find one of those.
Anyways, this was a common problem.
Check the obvious, such as the fuse and the power to the headlight switch itself, and electrical continuity from the switch to the headlights themselves.
Often the problem is in the Twilight Sentinel (headlight shut off timer) or the automatic high beam dimmer switch. The elctronics for these should be contained in the headlight switch itself. Realistically, its not repairable. Try to source one out of a wrecking yard.

Re: 83 cadillac fleetwood brougham

well, a 50 dollar caddy is nice, however i already tried replacing the switch and that didnt work, i think it could be the twilight sensor or the dimmer switch, ill try the twilight sensor first, however i got a temp switch on there right now the dim lights work and there was only one wire i ran to get it, so i think ill trace the wires, thanks for the advice though.
