1999 Grand Prix GT Brakes

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT with 4 wheel anti lock disc brakes. Is the Emergency brake tied into the disc brakes on the rear. If so, is this something I can service? I know GM made a change around this time frame I have just never had mine off and would like to know before I dive in. Thanks in advanced.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT Brakes

The emergency brake is not tied to the disc brake assembly. It is seperate. Unless you use the e-brake alot and run with it on you shouldn't need to do anything other than adjust it. You might want to purchase a manual to show you how to work on the e-brake as you will have to do quite a bit of disassembly including removing the rear hub and bearing assembly.
