just cause you get something for free doesn't mean wehn you loose it it isn't a serious loss.

my mom lost the ring her dead mom gave her when she was young, thats a loss. free corvette and i lost it, i might cry.

as far as Zgringo's story, i probably would have done the same thing, or maybe worse. because if i find him on my property, he wont be digging wholes, he'll be shot

I think thieves should just have a hand cut off each time they get caught. After all this is America and everyone has the right to a second chance Or you could do the "Three strikes and your out!" Except here, three strikes and your out is when your standing in a corner on one leg.

Is it legal to hold somone at gunpoint till the cops come as long as you don't make them dig holes or strip them naked and such?

I would assume so under the following conditions:
1. The car was parked on/in your property, and thus the thief was on your property.
2. The gun was legally registered to the user.
