How does one disassemble trunk lid ?

Any help would be very appreciated:

The bolts holding the rear licence plate on my 1995 Mercury Mystique were rusted and had to be replaced. I knew that replacing the bolts would mean that they would likely break off even after a good soaking with penetrating oil. Three out of the four bolts broke and the remains of the bolts are left in the plastic studs.

In my attempt to replace the plastic studs I found that I could not figure out a way to disassemble the trunk lid so I could get at these plastic studs.

Can anyone tell me how to completely disassemble the trunk lid?

It took some time to figure out but...

Remove the 4 nuts coming through the trunk lid. then take some paint sticks (they work well) and slowly start prying between the lights and trunk. there are steel screw pegs that lock into plastic inserts. Soon enough it pops out.
