Tranny Slip
What does it feel like to have your gears slip on an auto tranny? I never had my tranny slip (standard) but the car I'm looking at as my beater says it slips at 2nd going into 3rd. It's a 1987 Honda Accord with 127,000 miles and it's for 300 bucks. Say's it runs well and good condition other than the tranny. How much would it cost to fix that anyways just incase it's that bad?

Re: Tranny Slip
A AT slip, feels like the car ust lost power, you will feel a bit of a lag or slowing feeling, then it will rengage and lurch foward again..... to say the least its agrivating.
My advice, unless the price is REAL good stay away from it. A slipping AT means one thing, bad fluid, cooked internals tranny dieing. |

yep...hodo covered it. expect to get a new tranny. call the local wrecking yards and see how much they want for an auto tranny of the same year before you purchase it. if they say $200, then buy the car, install the new tranny and for $500 you got yourself a perfect winter car.
