Replace PCS

I'd like to replace the Transmission Pressure control solenoid on my 99 Montana. My Haynes manual says that 99 and newer Montana's got the heavier duty 4T65 tranny, not sure if that makes a difference in regards to the sensor though. I was looking for the procedure in the manual, and it says all transmission repairs should be done by someone qualified.
Does the tranny have to be pulled/dropped to replace this solenoid? The part itself is only like 50 bucks, and if it'd cure my hard shift (1-2 and sometimes 2-3) it'd be worth my time and effort.

From what I understand the procedure is fairly difficult as it does require taking apart some of the transmission, and thus should be handled by someone who's familiar with the procedure. This can be costly. I had mine replaced for $615.00. However, my problems persist. I still have harsh shifts/shudders. I have the 4T65E tranny in a Century 2000. This is my first day on these forums and I've read at least two dozen threads/replies of owners with the 4T65E complaining of numerous shifting problems. For more replies, head to the Buick Century forums to get the full scoop.
