Anyone know about the 02 Accord SE

I'm looking into buying a used Honda Accord (98 -02), the 6th gen model. My price range is about $6k ~ $8k.

While I was sifting through the mags and brochures, I stumbled upon an SE lineup. Does anyone know some info on this car? (websites, accord fourms etc.)

The SE model is a pretty decent car. IT's between the LX and the EX model Here's a site the specifically for the 6th generation Accord
http://www.6thgenaccord.com/forum/index.php

The onyl downside to the SE is that it's only available in automatic, no manual tranny there.

This is what it includes

4cyl (F23a4) 150hp engine
Sunroof
AC
Power steering
brakes
mirrors
door locks
4 lug15 inch wheelsRear Drum Brakes
(02 models) wood grain finish

This is what it does not include but is standard on the EX
Everything above +
4 wheel ABS
Cruise Control
Fog Lights
Rear Disc Brakes
Remote alarm
Tape/CD player
6 speakers
And some other stuff I can't remember

Re: Anyone know about the 02 Accord SE

thanks black night....

I think i'll just go with the EX model
since it seems to have everything standard.

Now i'm wondering if i should get a 4cylinder or V6

Re: Anyone know about the 02 Accord SE

4 cylinder will be better on gas but lack on power
6 cylinder will be a little worse on gas, but better on overall power. I'd go with the 6cylinder, as it is a nice compromise better the power of a v8 and the fuel economy of a 4 cylinder. However, not everyone values power as much as fuel economy...so it really is up to you.
I would check out the mpg statistics, and then test drive both to see which better suits your specific needs.

Go with the 4 banger. That's what I have (5speedEX)

For these simple reasons.
The V6 Trannies has major problems. Check some of the Accord boards, Most of teh people who has a V6 had to replace the trans.
Another reason is that the V6 is only available with an automatic
And another reason is that the V6 and the 4cyl are not far apart on track times. A stock V6 runs 15.8 while a stock 4cyl manual run's 164-16.6

Yeah, the V6 has 50 more horses (200hp) But weighs a little more also. And 50hp is not a lot

Re: Anyone know about the 02 Accord SE

Hey black night,

50hp may not be alot but if you get a h22a with 200hp which is also a gain of 50hp you can almost go 2 secs faster which then you would say(future quote) "50hp makes a big difference." Haha....

Just thought it was kinda funny.

But philly, I say you go with the 4 banger and drive it like you stole it.
Oh yeah, I just wanted to add (EX = Vtec) (SE = NoTec)

Yeah, if you get a H22a, that's 200hp & 161ft lbs of torque. But remember, that engine is lighter than the stock V6 engine (J30A1) and also, the V6 accord is around 200lbs heaver than the 4 banger. So dropping in a lighter engine in a lighter car will make you go faster

oh. The SE model does come with VTEC. The only model that does NOT come with VTEC is the DX model (135hp) Every other model 6th generation Accord stocks a SOHC VTEC engine. LX, LX-V6, EX, EX-V6, SE

Now, in the 5th Generation (94-97) only the 4cyl EX came with VTEC. Not the LX, SE or EX-v6

hahaha i like your philosophy. I probably will be doing that if i got the 4 banger.

Well, I checked the stats on the MPG for both 4 and 6 cylinders.

the 4 gets 23-30mpg
while the 6 gets 21 - 28

It doesn't seem to be that much different but i guess it depends on how heavy my foot is. hmm....Well hopefully I can find an EX with leather. That'll be nice.

ARGH!! Don't get leather Since you're in Pa, you have the same weather Jersey has.

1) In the summertime Leather is so hot. Try getting into your car and sitting down while it was sitting in the sun for a couple of hours. Leather is much harder to cool off than it is to warm up

But still, I'll take your word for it. Summer in CA does get pretty dry and scorching hot. I guess i'll just get cotton.
