help, will not start

just bought 88 fifth avenue, got it started after jump drove it home ran fine. Now it won't start. tries to turn over, but seems like no spark. replaced starter,rotor, and distributor cap. trying coil tonight, was given wrong size.

when you say it tries to turn over, does the motor spin or does it start to spin but does not?

The motor does spin. not mechanically inclined. New starter but not shimmed, could this be problem?

ok, you bought the car, it started fine, you drove it home, it ran fine, parked it, got in it the next day, turned the key, the motor turned over but it would not start, you have replaced the starter, dist cap, rotor and coil, correct?

you said there does not appear to be spark, please verify, get an extra plug, pull a wire, ground the plug, have an assistant try and start, is there spark? if yes get some starting fluid, take the air cleaner off, hold the gas pedal open (to the floor) spray down the carb, release the gas, put the aircleaner back on quick, try and start, if it does but dies, fuel pump ...... let me know

distributer cap was rotated 180 degrees, there was bad gas, and undersized battery
