94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

can a 5-speed LS beat an automatic RSX, (not Type-S)? cuzz i see a lot of RSX around my school and i know that they are not Type-S. im sure that i can't beat a 5-speed RSX, but what about an automatic one? saying that all i have done to my LS is CAI and catback exhaust.

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

well I think if youre a good driver you might have somewhat of a chance, but looking at it, your heavier, a good deal less torue, the RSX auto is a 5 speed. so I think they should win, but then again you shouold get a much better launch owning the 5 speed so if you bite hard from the line you might be able to hold em off for a while. never seen a time listed for the auto or even the 5 speed though so I cant tell you for sure, find one that wants to race and see how it goes.

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

The Acura RSX weights about 2720, the LS weighs 2650 I think the Integra is actually lighter, (by about 70lbs.) I know that a 100 lbs. person in my 98 GSR makes a difference in perfromance, so I think 70 lbs. may be significant.

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

ok, I was thinking the RSX must be heavier since it has all the additional safety crap and whatnot, but I went to autotrader to see the weights real quick and it said the RSX was 2494 and a LS coupe at 2643. even if a bit heavier.

I think that 14 more ft/lbs peak torque 1200RPM sooner and 18 more peak HP at about the same RPM will make up for the slower launch and added weight if you race long enough.

An automatic weighs 2700 according to autotrader (2004), I went to Edmunds.com and got the 2720 from there, for all the years of RSX's.... I would have thought them to be heavier anyway. Larger literage engine, larger body.

acuras site says 2809 for the auto so it is a good bit heavier.

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

my 92 hatch is 2100 pounds. I got the rsx weight off of autotrader but went and chacked on acuras website and it is 2809. which I admitted already and had been proven wrong twice already as well.

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

thanks for all the info guys, but u guys are going off topic. i know that weight is a big factor, but is it that big of a deal? let say i roll up to an automatic RSX and there 2 head inside the car. I weigh 130 lbs and same for the 2 people inside the RSX, so that a total of 260 extra weight added to the car. So when it come to total weight, i would win in who car is ligther.

so let get back to the main point of this tread. sorry but i forgot to mention a question i forgot to ask. Im not sure but, does all RSX have i-VTEC right? well i know that the i-VTEC is stronger in a 5-speed then in an automatic cuzz u can rev ur engine higher. all i really want to kno is that when the VTEC kick in an automatic, how strong does it come in compare to a 5-speed? it would be a good race but the people who RSX around my school are mostly gurl, and i would feel hella bad if i pick on one and she beat me. lol

Re: 94 LS (MT) vs. 02+ RSX (AT)

between a auto and 5 speed it is the same system. doesnt kick in stronger in either. due to gearing differences it might feel stronger in the manual, but the engine is actually making the same amount of power, but ther auto isnt as efficient and gets less of it to the ground. so the 5 speed will be a bit quicker. and if they have an extra 260 lbs thats a big deal. I just took out my jack, the 4 stock tires out of the back and all the spare parts the car came with and I went out and drove it and I do feel that the car is a bit quicker. I probably dropped a little over 120 lbs. I shouldnt be able to feel that though so it must be in my head cuz I dont think i could feel 1/10th of a second difference.
