Re: HELP Finding Good and Trusty Mechanics
Well if you are planning on using aftermarket part, then i wouldn't go to the dealer, plus they'd probably overcharge you, if it's stock then mayb the dealer would be the best to go to, if they arn't ripping you off.

the dealer is more expensive but with better warranties. i would trust taking my car to the acura dealership but i cannot afford the work that they do. remember you get what you pay for. and if you cannot afford the dealership check the better business bureau. go to their website and do a search on the mechanic that you want repairs done at. it will tell you if they have complaints against them and it will give you their rating.

i want a timing belt job done, i am using stock parts i guess... the first place i went to did not do a good job at all because now i have loss of power due to the timing being off... So would the dealer be the best place for a job like that?? |

FUCK dealers. My Acura dealer screwed me. Plus they miss diagnosed a problem as well. Fuck them in their stupid asses. I will never take my car to the dealer again without a warranty. They are like 2x as much too for shitty ass service. Seems like everyone that works there only gives a shit about two things:
1) the money they are making 2) their stupid ass egos If i were a suicide bomber i would go to the acura dealership |

it seems to be the way with every mechanic to somehow misdiagnose problems. its b/c of them not giving me the right info that i started/learned how to work on my own car. the dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to redo the timing. it'll be that way with any mechanic. the hardest part is finding one that you can trust. i know of two places where i live that i would take my car.
1. is my acura dealer. i know the guys there good enough to trust them. but i will not pay for the labor. 2. and another is a mechanic that is highly recommended here by many places. but they charge close to dealer prices. so i just do my own work. unless i feel that i have money to throw away. which i don't. it sucks but sometimes finding a good mechanic takes trial and error. and did you take it back to that place that did the job to begin with? also when you walk into the place is there alot of like good business awards on the wall? good mechanics like to display the awards they get. hope everything goes well. and if you decide that you might want to do it yourself, most of us here have done our own timing.

I took it back to them 3 times already and i am still getting a bad patch when i drive... THE NAME OF THE BUSINESS IS STRAUSS AUTO... everyone laughed at me or shook their heads in pitty when i told them that i took it there to do my timing.... SO EVERYONE STAIR CLEAR OF STRAUSS AUTO!!!! Well anyway, a couple of people said do the timing yourself... I need someone to go step by step with me while i do it, i dont just want to be alone with the repair manual... |
