is this worth it,if so how much am i looking at spending

i've never done this before, but have been curious about it,
i have a 97 civic hatch, and i'm pretty sure the same is with all civic owners we all want more power.
should i swap out the motor for an ls, or is there onother way of achieving this seemingly impossible task................need power!
dont want to spend a fortune.
thanks for any help!
sorry if this is a repeat post

You could do a turbo kit and have more power than an LS swap. But the LS swap might be cheaper to do, depends on where you get it from.

personally a turbo would be my poison. But if you can do a swap yourself it might be cheaper. I dont know about where you live but here it is easy to find decent engines in junk yards. Just a suggestion.
If you cant do the swap yourself i am sure that a turbo would be the cheapest route to more power

If you are looking for a lot of torque and power, the b18b would definetely be a better candidate. But, boosting the D16 will get you some pretty good results too. They can't handle as much power in stock form, which means having to replace internals and ish sooner, but once you have a built motor the sky is the limit. Plus you save a bunch of cash by not swapping first. It can all go towards your turbo kit or building up your D.

The first question is, what is your target HP you will be happy with, realistically? Second, how much money will you have to put towards this project in the end. Without a HP goal, and a bugdet, it's very hard to figure out what the best options.
