Remove cabin filter for 2002 Impala.
I am having trouble trying to get my cabin filter out. I have a 2002 Impala. I have followed the instructions in the manual. But can't figure out how to remove the housing pins? Any advise?

These are spreading fasteners, kind of like drywall anchors. Just pull the center pin up using either pliars, or by prying it with a screwdriver. Then the whole fastener will come out. The fastener with the slot in the top screws out.

I took the filter out of mine and just left it out. I never new the car had one until i was getting no airmovement from the vents, went to dealer and they told me about the filter, i pulled it out and it had all kinds of crap in it, they replaced it and a few months later it was plugged again. So i just took it out, no problems since. I check down there every so often and vaccum the dirt out. Other then that, it's great.

The filter is there for a reason. To catch all that crap to keep you from breathing it or it entering your cars interior. Without that your interior vents will get cloged sooner or later. I need mine to catch all the pollen and other allergy related particals in the air and keep them out. More power to you.
