Removing Headers?

Ive been looking at aftermarket headers for an 00' GT 5 speed, and figured that after i actually figure out how to get the old headers out, and new ones in, it is basically a bolt on job. Which brings me to the question. Looking up from the ground, i dont really see and clear shot at taking off my rear header set. The fronts look easy enough, but the rear set doesnt look like there is any clear path of escape. I just dont want to have to take off a bunch of hoses, or remove my oil pan if i dont have to. Lemme know, any RELEVANT information on this topic would be helpful.

PS. PLEASE dont turn this thread into a random post your thought thread...that pisses me off whenever that happens.

Re: Removing Headers?

from what i've heard before form other's doing a header swap on the V6 you have to drop the header's out from underneath, but then again i could be wrong. i know there was a thread that addressed about a month ago.

Re: Removing Headers?

many people have done this and they say that getting them off is a piece of cake as long as none of the bolts have been heat-welded. but getting the new ones back on will probably be a bitch. 03DMeclipse just changed his. im sure he could help you out with this.

i've taken mine off. they're pretty easy except for reaching the rear manifolds bolts. you have to have more than just a set of sockets. the only problem you might encounter is trying to remove the rear manifolds o2 sensor. everyone i talk to (except for new owners), end up breaking the sensor off. i did. it fuses on. putting on the new headers are easy. removing the old ones does take time though cause you have to remove them in pieces if you have the cats on yours (cali spec.).
